I present this recording to Thomas Dolby Robertson to honor his fortieth birthday. Thank
you, Thomas, for providing the inspiration for us to create this tribute to you. Thank
you, Alloy and everyone who contributed by word or deed to The Flattery Earth. I made such
effort as I was able to insure that all contributors are fairly and favorably represented
and faithfully reproduced. If somewhere here I have failed to turn a dial till the
needle's in the white, I beg your indulgence: There were thousands of dials and needles
between an email message announcing the project and this package you hold. All said and
done, it was tremendous fun and a remarkable learning experience for me. I thank all the
